Back pain

are very common and can be very severe both as acute attacks and as chronic pain. A back condition can drain your energy and tire your body and mind after just a few days.

Acute and chronic back pain is a common disease that can affect almost anyone, regardless of age. In the case of nonspecific back pain, X-rays, computed tomography and MRI scans often show no evidence of vertebral body injury or relevant disc changes with spinal cord or nerve compression, and no bacterial infection or tumor of a vertebral body. Apparently, therefore, a specific cause can rarely be demonstrated.

Osteopathy deals with the possible causes of the pain that has developed. The pain is triggered by a pre-existing disorder. The pain event thus represents as a symptom, despite naturally existing self-regulatory mechanisms, only the missing compensation possibility in the statics of the body. It is thus reversible.

In osteopathy, the processing of nerve stimuli and impulses from the abdominal cavity is very crucial in the assessment of back pain. Acute or chronic irritation or inflammation of the hollow organs such as small and large intestine but also urinary bladder and uterus come into play here. Also after surgical interventions, due to scarring changes in the abdominal cavity, an altered traction on organs and/or the ligamentous organ suspensions in the pelvis and abdominal cavity can lead to a state of tension that cannot be compensated, possibly resulting in an adjustment of the back tension. Here then sometimes the said wrong movement is enough and the back pain is there.

Manualmedical and osteopathic medicine will include the abdomen in the diagnosis and treatment of back pain. Using manual medicine techniques, the pelvic ring can be relieved of tension and blockage can be released. Blockages of the spinal column can be mobilized. Complementary to this, the palpatory skills of the practitioner seek out the states of tension in the abdomen. Mobility disorder of the abdominal organs can be treated, depending on the extent of a previous damage.

It is very amazing how well back pain can be influenced by treating the abdomen and lower abdomen, as well as the pelvic ring.
