What is osteopathy?

Osteopathy is a holistic manual healing method that diagnoses causal disorders of the body, treats and thus activates the self-healing powers of the organism.

Movement is the most significant characteristic and prerequisite for life. If movement and mobility of the tissues are reduced, so that the fluids can no longer flow, the organism reacts to these changes initially with adaptation and compensation. If this disturbance continues for too long or if further imbalances occur, the compensation mechanism is exhausted and dysfunctions develop, which express themselves in tension, restricted movement and pain.

The importance of osteopathy lies in finding the cause of the discomfort, because the place of pain or functional impairment is not always the place of origin. With the hands, the disturbances between the various structures are felt and treated osteopathically to restore the body's natural balance.

The American physician Andrew Still founded osteopathy more than 150 years ago.
In Germany, the practice of osteopathy is currently not yet recognized as a profession. It may only be offered and practiced by non-medical practitioners and physicians.
